Hey Chris!
Yes, there is s timing diff of +6 degrees (crankshaft), fixed, when in Premium vs Unleaded. Only caveat is must not be at closed throttle (CT). Easy to have someone inside hold the...
On, Wayne!
If you were runing any decent synthetic oil, "ring sticking" did not happen.
Thee is a place here in Tucson that is very familiar with Ford 2.3 OHC engines. I don't know if he's still open (I...
We have you surrounded. Put the beer down, slowly back away from the SVO and no body'll get hurt.
No need to replace the stock bolts - with the 12-point 12mm heads.
First off I would verify and check cam timing. Since ALL numbers are so low, the only thing that would affect all the cylinders is the cam timing. Of course setting cam timing on reassembly is part...
On, Wayne!
Sweet!
Bob will be missed. Definitely a disturbance to The Force.
If SPOUT is out, then the EEC cannot add any timing - so it will be running at base timing.
For the PE EEC in Premium mode the timing will be +20 from base at closed throttle (aka 30 BTDC).
Depends on which EEC is installed.
For the PE, the Premium "mode" adds the boost control system AND advances the ignition timing a fixed 6 degrees.
For the LA-series, there are two different...
All SVOs use the same VAF/VAM, which is also the same VAF/VAM used in the 1987/88 TurboCoupe. All *other* turbo 2.3L engines use a smaller VAF/VAM.
Trick question - the EEC does not light the LED...
So, uhhh, don't mess with it??
A smooth running SVO is a pleasure indeed. Definitely enjoy it!
Party On, Wayne!
Sweet!!!
The original engine in my NOv 1983 MY 84 came with a one piece rear main seal. So unless yout SVO is much earlier, I suspect it already has a one piece rear main seal.
It can be changed after the...
A nice write-up about Jessi is now on Wikipedia:

I'll start the year off with this article about Haas:

The EEC-controlled solenoid controls vacuum that OPENS the EGR valve. The valve closes from spring pressure when the vacuum is low.
It shuts off at closed throttle, not just at idle. So it's...
Now I know why he didn't reply to my emails the past couple years.
He will be missed.
The EEC operates a separate solenoid that controls vacuum to the EGR valve. When under boost, there's not much vacuum available so the valve does not open. There is also a one-way check valve...
Have a close look at the TFI wiring harness between the TFI and the car (it's part of the EEC harness).
I always mark the flywheel and block at the rear too - so there's a reference when the front pulleys / cover / pointer are not on the block.
It was just a cast aluminum finish and not painted.
NOTE: the bore is anodized so DO NOT hone it.
