What 3g Alt from the junkyard is the closest fit to use on my stock 85.5 SVO? And what mounting hardware do I need?

I'll try to get a list later, but basically a Taurus alternator should fit. There were 2 case sizes. The smaller one bolts on in the same place. Some T-Birds came with a nice compact Mitsubishi alternator that works nicely. Then you will need to install the pulley after machining for proper backspacing of the belts. I'll have to hunt down a good article on the swap. There are probably several out there.

I pulled mine off a 90 something Aerostar with the small V6 at the local pull a part for $25. I have the serpentine setup from a Turbo Coupe and it bolted right in mine without incident but I think it'll bolt in place of the original in the original bracketry. There is an issue with the attachment nut when using the original V pulley setup. Others that have experience with this will chime in I'm sure.

I plan on using a serpentine conversion anyway, when I do should I grab the pulleys off a Ranger 2.3 or is there something better that is not as rare as a TC? I am not too concerned about the wiring, my strong suite in automotive is electric, I am just concerned about the hardware.

Check with places that build/retrofit ambulances. Around 95 we picked up a pallet of about 30 of them that were take offs from the trucks as they came in for retrofit/conversions from Ford. Think the price came out to about $25-$30ea.
