I have the PE computer from my '86 SVO (has standalone Accel DFI) and want to put it in my GT Turbo. The car already has 35lb injectors, I have a '88 TC large VAM, and a nice FMIC for the car. The rest is pretty much stock except for the 3" exhaust. I want to keep the car as original as possible without doing any mods that can't easily be reversed. I figure this is an easy way to pick up an extra ~60hp if you believe Ford's advertised ratings.
My concerns are any wiring issues, I read in the LA3 swap thread about the inline KS not working. Is this tue in my case too? Am I going to have to put in a reg/prem switch? Any other things I haven't thought about?
Thanks, Paul <- still a bit electrically challenged...lol

Yes, an in-line intake KS system will not work correctly with the PE.

Additionally you should make sure the boost control output signal pin does not have a connection to it. And wire up a switch to enable premium mode. There are no other required wiring changes.

Than you will get to deal with some other boost control management system.

Mike, can I just do a "jumper" for the premium mode?
The car has a Gillis style MBC valve in it set at 15psi.

Thanks, Paul

Well, yes You *can* but I don't recommend it. Full boost (not managed by the EEC using a knock sensor feedback system) AND full timing (same reason: no KS) is asking for trouble.

BUT as long as temps are cold, the IC works perfectly and you have appropriate octane for all conditions, it'll probably be just fine. It's the times when all those criteria are not met that things can get questionable.

Since we're all old enough now to live dangerously, just be sure to keep the radio down when using the loud pedal.

I have the correct SVO square intake and related pieces I could swap in. I guess it would be worth the "insurance" to have the system working as designed.
The car already has a bunch of SVO parts in it now and the last few times I took it to Carlisle I entered it as an '84 SVO convertible.
I got tired of parking with a bunch of 6cyl SN-95 Mustangs with blowers, scissor doors, and $10,000 paint jobs. They threw all 4 & 6 cyl, stock & modified Mustangs in the same class...
