Can anyone tell me the proper length of the dipstick for checking the oil? I have searched and never found the answer. I had two to choose from in my garage and one was a different length by 1/2" or so. When I put the car back together I had 5.0 parts in the garage from the previous owner. So I used the one that looked right but I was never sure. I don't remember which one I choose the longer or the shorter. The other one is buried in a parts box somewhere in the attic. On the same note it seems as if the oil level is high with the current dipstick I have, so also what is the proper oil capacity for the 2.3 turbo?

Mine is 19.5" from tip to end of handle. Here's a pic...

BTW - ALL SVO engines use the same dipstick while the mounting tube differs between the in-line and square intakes.
And I think 5 quarts is your capacity, with the filter....

Thanks dznj. I have seen both 5 and 5.5 quarts listed for capacity. I guess i need to change my oil and get it filled properly. It is above the fill line right now by a little bit, I must have added some when i thought it was low at one point. I don't drive the car much so probably hasn't hurt it any.
