Has anyone had any luck with these. Searched and didn't find anything. I picked up one reasonablely priced and was thinking about starting to fab the mounts. If anyone has used one and has pictures of there mounting brackets, I'd like to see them. Planning on running it below the front bumper and in the opening for the lower air intake in the bumper cover.

I have used CX Racing intercoolers. I am not sure if they advertise on Ebay.They are very well made and I have used two from them and they hold up up to 30psi. They have many different sizes and configurations. I will check to see if I still have pics of mine mounted when the SVO was still stockish.I had it mounted low in front of the radiator.

The kit I have looks like this one. Two and a half inlet and outlet, aluminum intercooler with steel piping.

I'm planning on running the stock vam and adding a LA3 and 35# injectors with a manual boost controller, staying around 17 to 18 lbs boost. I also have an E6 manifold, which I cleaned up some castings in and port matched with the head. Newer T3 water cooled turbo and I plan to pick up a stinger 3" turbo back exhaust. This is all in an '84 SVO with 79, 000 miles; I pulled the engine and replaced all the gaskets and repainted it. Im working on the old brittle wiring right now and plan to pull the rear end out to clean it up and replace the fluid also. I want the car to be a driver, not daily but probably weekly at least.

That looks like it should fit pretty well and there is enough piping to accomodate your setup. Be sure to incorporate a BOV or BPV before the throttle body.

I think I'll have enough tubing. Any recomended BPV or BOV's , from what I've gathered I'll need a dual piston type.

What do you plan to do on the intake? Stock inline? Later model rotated?

Ideally you would want a BPV, not a BOV, and to place the BPV after the cooler and before the throttle body. You do not want to recirculate hot air.

Stock in-line intake with just a clean up of the ports. Would like to run a rotated intake but I have too many other things to finish before spending more on the engine. The engine is stock, I just replaced all the gaskets, low miles. I have a LA3 for it and I've already replaced the injectors withe brown tops. Will repin the harness soon. I was thinking BPV as I've heard they are much quieter verses BOV .

The reason you want the BPV over the BOV is for fuel management. The computer has no way to manage the fuel mixture if you vent the air. You will have all kinds of performance issues. Think of it as a giant air leak on the intake

That is a good size intercooler. Mine is about half that size. I plan on running AC so that setup isn't going to work for me. It will be mounted in front of the condenser and radiator.

Digging this one back up. I found some other things to work on and just got back to the intercooler, just figured out the tubing is all aluminum also. I don't have a tig welder so I have an issue fabbing this up. How many couplers are too many or what should I pay someone to weld this up if I make all the cuts. We have a few welders local but they seem to want an arm and a leg to put some metal together. I'd like to minimize the amount of couplers to just 4 to 6.

Most tiggers around here (not to be confused with Tigger and Pooh-Bear) have a $50-75 minimum and that covers the first 30-60 minutes of work. . And, I suspect, with you doing all the cuts and deburring, making ten welds is only 30-40 minutes or so. You just need to mark them up so they can be glued in the right angles and stuff.

It's not like welding is rocket science or heart surgery.

This is only an issue when using a "normal" single piston BOV. If you use a dual piston BOV (like we have on our site) that is designed for metered-air cars (MAF, VAM) then there are no driveability issues created by the BOV.

Ok thanks stinger. I wish I had just bought one of your intercooler kits as well, just didn't have the extra cash. The exhaust looks good and hopefully i'll get it installed soon. I plan to pull the rear end from under the car to clean and paint it so that's when I'll install it.
