Hello all,

Well, perhaps the previous owner didn't have any boost control because the wastegate isn't working anyway. Or perhaps it isn't working because he never used it. But even when the wastegate is directly attached to the post compression vacuum fitting on the turbo, its overboosting still.

What does it take to make a wastegate operate freely, assuming the actuator is being replaced anyway?

And, btw, does anyone have the numbers on whether the actuator should be one or two port, and the length of the actuator rod? I see everything from 2.5 to 5 inches on ebay right now.

Many thanks, I believe this is the last thing before I get it smogged and registered.

I'm also still getting the geyser from the radiator every time I turn off the engine, and oil leaking from the oil cap, but I'm hoping a new radiator cap and oil cap will fix that.

Well, I -am confused- figured it out.

I might need help in the 2+2 department sometimes. I noticed this morning while inspecting the engine that the cap blew off an outlet on the same vacuum fitting I had the wastegate plugged into. I replaced the cap, and tightened it down with a clamp.

So that explains why I saw spikes yesterday, and today on the freeway, WOT, in 5th (A little less than 3000 rpm) it seems to bounce at around 8psi just fine for a minute or so.

As I always say at work, I'm only a little embarassed when the solution is easy ... but mostly happy that it was an easy solution.
