Power Steering Cooler?

Part of the fun journey of this car is the surprises. Not just surprises, but preceding the surprise is usually a lot of head scratching and confusion. Then when I realize what is going on, then its a real surprise.

This picture is looking up in front of the radiator from where the fog lamps usually are. When I went to the mechanic many months ago, they asked me where my power steering hoses are (they are currently in the mail).

I always figured a set of hoses looped together were it, but on closer inspection they went to the front by the radiator. I wasn't expecting power steering hoses to do that, I expected them to go to the steering rack.

Well, on very close inspection, it looks like they do, and then they run through that loop right in front of the radiator.

Now, given the general state of the fixes of the car (the flopping around VAM, the various spliced wires, etc) this looks suprizingly well done. That loop looks well planned, and even has the right paint color on it.

So did the SVO come with a power steering cooler?

I removed the stocker and added a 2 pass with fins probably no better than factory.

Yes, all came with a cooler loop as you show above. In fact, iirc, all Ford Mustnags with PS have a cooler just like that.

BTW - heat dissipation is better if it's not painted.

My 88 LX did not have the loop.

Eastwood offers a black paint for radiators that states it doesn't impede heat dissipation; has anybody tried this, either on radiators or on PS coolers?
