Where's the Horn?

Got my 86 SVO running good after parking it for about 13 years. Everything works again except the horn. Before I go crawling around I thought I'd just ask, where is the horn? It worked before it was parked so I assume something corroded while it sat. Any suggestions?

There's two of them. Note that the metal bracket of the horn is the ground connection and must make a good electrical contact with the frame rail.

Drivers side, under the washer reservoir, on the frame rail.

And don't assume that there is a deeper problem than the horns being dead, even though there are 2 (hi and lo). On my 85.5, they were both dead. Got a set from NAPA, and what do you know beep-beep! I checked my ford dealer, and the parts they had in stock were the exact same as the NAPA parts, but 5X the price.

Hey Mike, my charcoal canister was not mounted in that location. Mine was mounted under the passenger frame rail just in front of the sway bar. Hanging inside the engine compartment. Did you move yours?

... charcoal canister ... Did you move yours? Yep. many, many moons ago I moved it to the outside of the frame rail when I was beta testing some front-mount (behind radiator, front of engine) charge cooler kits for a company out of Santa Barbara.

It never went back to the engine side of the rail. I likes it where it is.

Absolutely. Where else do you store the petrol evaporation fumes? That fuel vent line has to go somewhere.

Remember that petrol fumes are VERY explosive.

Purge valve? Its just a vent for fumes & the charcoal canister "absords" the fumes.

Yes, the collected fumes get vented back into the engine where they can get burned rather than dumping into the atmosphere.
