I have an 85 1B and have started to use it for local club autocross. It is modified slightly. The stock computer was replaced with a PE computer from the Blackbird 85.5. The BCS system was unplugged and a Gillis manual valve was installed. I had been running about 19-20 lbs of boost. It has 35# injectors and a stock square port style intake. A ported E6 manifold with one of Stingers 3" exhaust systems is used. It has a drop in K&N air filter along with some Magnecor race wires. I have converted a 3 wire O2 sensor to a 4 wire. I have been running Mobil 1 synthetic 10W-30 oil, and Mobil1 fluid in the transmission and rear end. In this configuration on the dyno a best of 240 HP with 320 torque has been recorded.

It went to the Sturgis Mustang Rally last year and ran the Autocross where I popped the head gasket. I was experiencing detonation, cooling issues(issues with the fan relay) and fuel issues( running lean). It had 5 gallons of good fuel with a 1/2 gallon of tolulene for insurance. The injectors, fuel pump and pressures have checked out. Adjusting fuel pressure does not look like a fix so I need to readjust my upgrades plan.
So here's what I hope to cover in this projects thread:
A Boport stage III head with a 2.1 cam(got it)
copper head gasket(got it)ARP head studs(got it)
original inline intake ported(just finished it)
upgrade the CAC core(got it)
add a bypass valve(on order)
upgrade the fuel system(got the Walbro)
injectors( got some 46s sitting here)
Fix broken turbine bolts and replace turbo/manifold gasket
add flex section from Stinger to down pipe
replace radiator and cooling fan(got it)
Change out PE for LA3 computer(got it)
tune it with quarter horse(got it)

Install wideband(got it)

install 4 point Schroth belts
tires and wheels
Sub Frame connectors

Maintanence including hawk pads and SS brake lines

That should get me to the first autocross session coming up very soon. I aiming for 300-310hp. The limiting factor is going to be the stock .48 T3.

Nicley laid out, this sounds alot like me. What did you use to port out your intake and how big is it? I need to do mine but I have the square intake and am wondering how to go about it. The 90' bend is going to be tough to make even with carbide alone. I have read on Merkur encylopidia that you should get a golf ball thru, but the ports in the head aren't that big right now, maybe the stage 3 will be? Sure doesn't look like there is stock there for going that far.

I have a ported lower squareport here also that I will get some pictures of. It is not my work. With the square port you should also consider welding up the injector boss in ports 2&3. The square port is also set to work with a gutted upper in that the divider is rounded also. The inline is harder to work on than the square port. The runners in it are smaller and longer. I think I used every carbide burr I have. I have several with 6 &7 inch shafts that i used mainly. The adjacent ports are very close it seems. It was flowed before and after just to make sure it went in the right direction for flow and it did nicely. But the ports are sure smallish compared to the square port. I am really surprised that basically cleaning up the casting and smoothing some transitions made such a difference! My wrists are killing me using those long burrs! I will post some pics later
