I am replacing my dash pad with another original do to the sun cooked it to death, my question is it correct that the dash pad is a shade darker or does it supposed to match the lower part of the dash ?? I have to freshen the replacement to match correctly .

There is no doubt, unless the car has sat in a garage it entire life, that there will be some difference. I'd just paint it and go with it.

Go with SEM 39153 or Duplicolor HVP-111. Both a good match for the original colours. Don't stress to much on the colour match, I've seen original press photos and VERY low mileage cars where parts had slightly different shades or grey.

Besides, if anyone notices, they're not having a good enough time:):):)

Isn't 39153 the exterior trim paint? BTW, I did install a Dashes Direct pad on an 85 GT T-Top car, and it matched, fit pretty well. I never had the SVO and the GT close enough to each other to tell if there was a huge color difference between the GT gray and the SVO grey interior.

I used 39173 for interior panels and match is pretty good.

I used SEM 39173 for the interior of my Red Baron. All interior panels match perfectly as I repainted everything that color - including the Jungle Gym tubing.
