Fan Relay, 10pin / 6pin

Hello,

I'm replacing the radiator fan relay. I purchased a new one that has 10 pinouts from Airtex .. http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=934222 and a connecter kit for it http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=936064&cc=1133806

Now I can't find any information on how/where to pin it up with. If by some happenstance I simply use the same numbers and ignore 7-10, please just give me a sign and I will believe.

Otherwise I'll need more specific instructions.

I'm not too familiar with the ten pin relay module. Do you have any pics or schematics for it? The pics from the website only show the outside of the casing it lives in.

I do know you can buy the direct replacments from NAPA as well as the pigtail & plug (like you got from RA)

Here is a start for describing the basics of original relay module. I have more details I will need to look up. I can tell you it is pretty easy to figure out if you have a multimeter & some basic knowledge on using the meter for DC circuits. What is wrong with the old relay module? I keep a collection from JY finds & rebuild them .

Thanks, I actually have the original relay down with diagrams and such. I'm hoping someone might know about the 10pin, or what car it might have come from so that I can find it. Right now I'm going through the "fits" list to see if I can find one.

I opened it up, and it appears that only 8 pins are live on it. There's reasons I like it, it is solid state and as far as I can tell the main circuit passes through a diode for switching. It has a vent across the top of the connector.

The old one the person gave up on the conector and simply stuffed or wrapped the wires into it. The wires rusted/melted/fused to the link and he gave up. I couldn't get it disconnected nor the ones I saw at the junkyard. Maybe something to do with living in arid-zone-a.

as in the electro-mechanical switch relays? No, nothing like it. It has a number of resisters, an ASIC, a relatively beefy diode, and some very curiously long resisters.

I got off the phone with Airtex this morning (what chaps to give such service) and for some reason Rockauto flubbed the order. Instead of the ending "21" they put "12" which happens to correspond to an 88-92 Ford Tempo. And who needs that, right?

False alarm. Issue (more or less) resolved.

The problem is, however, that the part I did want is no longer available, not from anywhere? And even the Tempo part is under review to discontinue.

I did see someone who simply pinned up a modern relay much closer to the fan, and I might go that route. But first I'll give RockAuto the chance to fix their error.

In fact, the way these connectors are all going 'snap' when I try to remove them, I think a round of new modern connecters are in order for the whole car :avatarbeat-dead-hor

But first I'll give RockAuto the chance to fix their error.
This is usually pretty easy to do with Rockauto. They are normally pretty quick to correct their mistakes & for many low price parts they usually just tell you to keep the part & they will refund the money since it isn't worth it to pay for additional shipping.
