I haven't seen the Lincoln movie yet but they took some "hollywood license" and wrongly portrayed facts about the Connecticut vote. Go figure...

"Rep. Joe Courtney, D-Conn., wrote a letter to Spielberg earlier this week noting that a key part of Lincoln is wrong. The film shows two of three lawmakers from his state voting against the 13th Amendment, prohibiting slavery in the U.S. "I could not believe my eyes and ears!" he wrote, because, he says, according to the Congressional Record, all four representatives from Connecticut voted in favor of the amendment."

Actually, depends upon who made it. Hollywood will change anything if they think it will generate revenue, that's what they're in business for.
I am a big fan of the History Channel, I think they do an excellent job.

My Great Great Grandfather was from Holly Springs, Mississippi and fought for the confederates in the "Battle of Sihloh" on the Mississippi/Tennessee border in April of 1862. He came home on leave after the battle and died of the measles.

I saw Lincoln and was most impressed that they didn't have forced air heaters in their homes back then and it was very cold. The realization of how they lived and what a great job they did of portraying that in the movie, was by far the best part of the movie - IMO.
