Stock turbo, i did what most eager backyard mechanics do..i take off the exhaust and go to 2.5.. im happy for a couple months but i want more.
i need to upgrade the elbow...

Everyone says the bolts will break, so i tried my luck and low and behold the first one came off easy. i thought i had something different and 4 bolts later im stuck with 1 good bolt and 4 broken ones. :)

I have 3in exhaust waiting just kinda need that extra assurance in what im doing is right. Plan is to get new Oil lines(stinger: Feed and Return lines) and an article i cannot find between 3 turbos for our car, the t3/t4 would be my best bet. t3/t4 (http://www.bo-port.com/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=70)

Is this as plug and play as im thinking? I could try to take the turbo out on a weekend and try to take the bolts out but it seems like a dead end as its still a stock turbo and limited. I know i can reach my goals of 300+ rwhp with it at the end of its life.

unfortunatly i do not have another manifold i could port so i would need to do some manifold porting and probably looking at a week to do it. I still have stock everything and would be running stock boost levels until i get the fuel side upgraded and other odds and ends taken care of.

I did this swap (t3/4t Boport) a few months ago and my memory for it may have some spaces. I removed the manifold and turbo together( note the replacement turbo was not in stock, so have it in hand before you start). The t3/t4 is not water cooled so you will need to blank off the feed and return. The air intake is different and needs a different intake hose. The waste gate bracket has different bolt spacing and we had to alter the bracket and further adjust the waste gate actuater to allow complete closure. The oil feed/ return was fine. I hogged out the header while doing this (beware the dust will turn to a rust colored stain if left). Your 3in. down pipe should do well. This is a common swap and I hope others will add or subtract from what I remember. It was not just a bolt on replacement in my experience. I'm very satisfied with the results but I did a walbro fp, TC intercooler, and cold air intake. So I don't know which mod had the most bang for the buck.

Zach, I have an 85 SVO. With a drop in K&N filter, ported E6, 3" exhaust, PE computer, 35# injectors, square intake, 20# boost, gillis valve, and synthetics in the drive line I was at 245hp and 320 torque. It pinged like crazy, even with a 1/2 gallon of tolulene in the fuel tank. I pushed it and blew the head gasket. My fuel pressures are good but I am running lean. The fuel system will need attention very quickly. The T3/T4 50 E turbo pushes about 48 lbs of air compared to the stock 26 lbs. Put on your 3" exhaust, attend to the fuel system ie pump and injectors and invest in a wide band so you don't break alot of parts. If you need a turbo and 300HP is what you are shooting for get the .48 for driveability. Put on the .63 if you want a little more and for the boost to come in about 300 rpm later with a little more top end. I would be looking at the cams and porting before the turbo though.

I decided I would better spend the money on other parts ill be needing and just suck it up and extract the 4 broken bolts.

I figured it wouldn't really be just a simple swap as I would need a new I.c., misc oil lines, silicone couplers and easily be way more than I need to be at the moment.
