Hi All,
wondering what the spec and procedure is for re-installing a stock K-member in my SVO?? I have a spare which I got from Troy which I believe came from the "War Protest" '86 2R. I'm gonna repaint it 9L and then fit it when the engine bay/frame rails are painted. How do I make sure it's square??

You crawl around on the floor with plumb bobs, tape, sharpies and a measuring tape. ;)

You gotta do how the factory did it . . .get the holes lined up and tighten with a airgun and send it down the line.:p

Exactly what I was thinking. Don't think any two were put in the same on any Fox bodied car.

If you want more caster, slot the holes a wee bit more nad slide it as far forward as you can.

Also d/load MM's instructions on how to align their tube k-frames. First you get the front-to-rear settings right (measuring from same-side rear to front) then get the side-to-side right by measuring diagnally and moce it sideways without affecting front-rear positioning. It can be an interactive process though. All referenced between the front rear suspension arm mounting points.

This is probably the most critical suspension setup regarding proper handling of the car.

That's what I said.

That's what I said. True, true. I just make it sound complicated and important.

In all seriousness, this is a critical installation. You are going to need an extra set of hands and the tools I noted. Mike gives you some excellent advice about using the MM K-member installation instructions. If you do it wrong, you'll chase your tail on handiling ills, do it right and its fantastic.

when Im setting up custom suspension on 4x's, links replacing leaves ect.. I like to use a manually adjustable laser level on a adjustable tri pod, set it to the level of the car and centerline vetical/horizontal and then lower it down to where I need it on the axle or suspension points. That saves a ton of measuring right off the bat, theres still tons of cross measurements to fine tune it in but it cuts thru a lot of the initial setting up.
