Hello,

This might be two different problems or they might be related.

I was so frustrated when the SVO left me stranded. I didn't really know what to do, so I secured the VAM and cleaned the engine bay. The car ran better than ever. Someone even stopped me at a Gas station to ask if he could buy the car with cash right there. Life was good...

The only strange thing that happened was that the tachometer would fall to 0, but the engine wouldn't exactly stall.

But now I've had it stall twice, once again in the middle of an intersection (it seems to happen as I'm braking and going to idle?) Luckily it was the corner by my house and I could push it back. (It started again this morning). The other was in a parking lot, and shaking a few connections seemed to bring it back to life.

All I can think of is trying to get my old distributor to work (return the one from NAPA) and replace the engine harness with one from an 89 (I am running an LA3).

I can repair my distributor if I can find out where I can get a replacement spacer (its a flattop distributor) for where the distributor top rests. Anyone know the size? I tried one from Lowe's but the inner diameter was too tight and it was too thick (I think).

I might just try to get one of the later shafts with the tall rotor while I'm getting the engine harness from an 89.

Also if anyone is in Phoenix area and can help me put in a new harness and fix the distributor some a Saturday in the next month, please send me a PM. I need to sew up this car for a pending calendar event.

many thanks,
