I've been reading about engine casting numbers and the last 6 of the VIN stamped close to that on the passenger side near/above the starter, but I can't find anything on the four numbers (rather large) stamped next to the distributor hole. Just curious as to what those mean. I can only read the last three out of four numbers on my block and its 222. I'm sure you engine gurus know what these numbers are.

If there are no numbers on your block in the area of the flat near the starter, then you have a service replacement block. The 4 numbers near the distributor display the original standard bore diameter for select fitment of the four cylinders, 1 through 4, for appropriate pistons (within .0002" tolerance) during assembly.
