I had issues with the window rattling and one day the window just came down with the rail. The window fell down again the other day and now its shattered. What do I need to do to fix all the play on the window. I installed the new rivets like the ones on the tech articles on the other side but I think its something to do with the gear and rail not lining up.

I don't think there is a fix. Just have to get a new regulator.

Iam gonna go out on a limb here, but this must be a driver's side window/regulator?

Yes its the driver but the passenger might go out soon. Does anyone make a replacement or do I have to use a 20+ year old used one?

They are available new.See http://www.npdlink.com/store/catalog/Door_Internals_and_Windows-6291-1.html

Then see see Motors & Components http://www.npdlink.com/store/catalog/Mustang_Motors_Components-6294-1.html

There are parts available now to tighten things up if needed, have you pulled yours completely out of the door to see what has failed?

The spring is missing is what I was told by the guy that checked it out. Does anyone know if the new ones come with the spring.
