View Full Version : Engine fluttering between 2-3k RPM

New injectors finally installed, I re-gapped spark plugs to .035. The plugs look fairly new and so does the wires and cap. I did not change these as I was running out of daylight and frankly they looked ok. The car is idling nicely and makes decent power, better than before with orig. injectors. No codes on reader. It does however still vibrate under load between 2-3k RPM all gears. Prob worse with AC on and worse with sw in premium? Feels kind of like a wheel out of balance and like that, it smooths out above 3k RPM. Can it possibly be a bent turbine blade? Or will new wires, plugs, cap and rotor take care of this? Clogged cat?

Do the tune up stuff first. (cheapest 1st always) It's amazing how fast these things eat ignition parts under load (boost!) 35 might be a little loose for plug gap 29 works good for me. A bad turbine blade would get worse with speed IMHO. Clogged cat would limit top end not low end. Check for a bad turbo gasket, mine did weird things till I figured it out. The other thing that caused diagnosis problems was bad drive shaft universals or flat spotted tires.

Don't trust the old wires, they are cheap & relatively easy to replace. Also make sure you have all your grounds installed, I see where you were working on that in another post.

That's an electical ground - probably won't effect the EEC as long as the proper EEC ground is connected. But it won't hurt.
