http://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/2015-mustang-svo-speculation/65534/page1/ Confirmed. But...name and marketing will be "Ecoboost", not SVO, SVT, etc. And will be void of any reference to I-4 or 4 cylinder.

Dec Car & Driver has cover photo and short article. They report it will be a 2.3 turbo with direct injection rated 310 hp offered as an upgrade from the 3.7 V6.
IRS standard on all cars and expect a 200lb weight reduction on the new S550 platform. Should be fun chasing down those Boxster's and Cayman's on trackdays!

The addition of the turbo 365 hp V6 from the Taurus is being discussed to replace the current V6 for 2016/2017.

Sticker package only on the 4cyl for now.

MANY in Ford would rather badge it MPG (like in 1974) than SVO (like in 1984)

Mark
P.S. Ford doesn't own the SVO name now Jaguar does. (I'm sure money and lawyers could fix that)

Who says one could not add his own SVO badges (shadow style or chrome) and have the SVO name added to the headrests (or seats) and the door panels? Bet it would look good on the horn pad! What size tires and wheels are planned for the new car?

I work at a Ford dealership, the 2015 SVO is currently a "Rumor" but Ford will be releasing a 2.3l ecoboost turbo. I have been told by the big guys up top that it will appear in the Mustang as an in-between of the v6 and v8. But no confirmation on an SVO trim for 2015 yet.

Eeh, its OK. It looks like an SN95 on steroids to me, and that was my least favorite Mustang body style. (Sorry if I offended anyone that owns one.)
I'm with Mike, on the wheels, but that is what the aftermarket is for.

They've finally caught up with the technology included in the 4B11T Mitsubishi engine from 2008 while making the same power level with 15% more displacement. And it only took them six years.

Hmmm...

While this is definitely an improvement for Ford, it's still 5+ years behind the rest of the competition.

I have a '66 200 six with the integrated intake on the head, what a PITA!

Ford did a great job on the reveal, so much more to come. (Story isn't fully told)http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e136/svo2scj/th_IMG_2586_zpsd3749f9f.jpg (http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e136/svo2scj/IMG_2586_zpsd3749f9f.mp4) There is still a battle between the 5.0 and Eco Boost camps inside! Looks like the V6 will get squeezed out as it too is 300HP and destine for the commuter sales IMO. http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e136/svo2scj/photo_zpsb30d8af4.jpg (http://s38.photobucket.com/user/svo2scj/media/photo_zpsb30d8af4.jpg.html) It was an honor to be invited, got to talk to many in marketing and powertrain. (As well as Gale Halderman on my rejected prototype from 1963) Here is a photo you can caption ! LOL (No different than Sturgis with Deborah) This is COO of Ford http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e136/svo2scj/photo_zpsd1d6465e.jpg (http://s38.photobucket.com/user/svo2scj/media/photo_zpsd1d6465e.jpg.html)

It's interesting that the engine is a 2.3L. I'm sure it's just coincidence though, I don't think 2.3 has the same marketing value as 5.0

SVOfish

Ford is doing some cool/interesting things. I highly doubt its a coincidence that Ford created a 2.3 ecoboost. If you find the 2.3 ecoboost an interesting tech read, one might find interest in the 1liter 3cyl ecoboost as well as the 5cyl powerstroke that is said to debut in the us transit. (Word around the shop )

Can't wait till Ford finally releases some numbers on these things, should be pretty good, but I am sure there will be room for improvement. Recently found an article where Wolf Performance in Europe took a Focus ST up to 370hp/409tq with the 2.0L ecoboost, so the aftermarket tuning on the 2.3L should be interesting.

Saw the ecoboost engine on a stand at the Ford display at Carlisle and was surprised how physically small it seemed along with a small turbo. Was nice to see the exhaust manifold cast into the head to avoid cracking tho'!

You can clearly see the exhaust is routed internally to the head casting and the turbo exhaust flange bolts to that with 4 studs. I was surprised by the size of the wastegate flapper valve, would be interesting to see the actual port size. Should be a little screamer though!

No problem on the pics. Funny thing was, there was NO signage on that engine or stand...NOTHING if you can believe that. If it would have had an info board on it, I would have snapped a shot of it. I have no idea why they would not be promoting that thing in any way. When I was looking at it and started taking the pics, there were about 5-6 guys that came over to look at it and fairly quickly walked away. They likely didn't have a clue as to what it was and without any info on it had no idea that it was a 2.3L Ecoboost. I had to confirm that it wasn't a 2.0L Ecoboost with the show model on the Mustang stand, at least she knew what it was!

The drive-away video was interesting, the 5.0L sounded really good, the V6 was, well, a V6 tone, but the 2.3L sounded all kinds of restricted...like something blowing through a straw. I am sure a freeer breathing exhaust will let that thing push out just a few more ponies and sound better to boot!

I am sure a freeer breathing exhaust will let that thing push out just a few more ponies and sound better to boot! Isn't that accurate for every car today. especially booster ones?

iirc the change in sound alone is what made BORLA famous.

The new turbo will be nice. It might have a lot of usable high tech Stuff. I was considering a future purchase( used ) Mustang. Now that I have my 85 SVO running great I don't have the fever as bad, but twin swirl turbos sounds like wooosh. A nice by-product from this new Turbo 2.3 Mustang will be that it will bring more attention to the SVO 84-86 That will bring more value to my SVO with the new a/c in it. That will be Kool
