EGR

Two quick questions related to the egr.

1. Is the egr supposed to open and close with throttle blips from idle?
My egr diaphragm shows signs of carbon buildup on the bottom side.

2. I don't have a second question because my iPad won't let me edit the top line....oh well.

Maybe.

ECT must be high (>175 F or so), throttle must not be closed (<10%) nor WOT (higher than ~70%), and some manifold vacuum must be present.

If the engine coolant is cold, no EGR movement. If the engine is at full op temp, and you manually open the throttle and raise the RPM steady to 2500, then you should see the EGR valve open and hold. As soon as the throttle closes or rapidly increases, the valve will also close. It has some latency so it will not respond to rapid throttle changes.

The question regarding the EGR has been answered and no issue was found. EGR is working as designed.
