Dash Pad question....I read'em all

If the dash pad is in good shape, no cracks, no warping, just discoloration...can it simply be removed and repainted with the correct color?

Also, as I was removing parts today for a gauge install, I took note of what appeared to be the mounting points for the pad. Is it as easy as it appears for removal?

It might seem like a silly question, but I never read about anyone doing that. It's always replacement or cap.

Iirc there's about 10 Philips head screws holding the dash pad on. Three on the instrument cluster cover, two under it, two on the right side over the fuzy hting, and two each uin the corners of the defronter ducks near the glass (do not driop!). If my memory iserves.

Sure paint it to match the rest of the interior. I painted mine when I repainted all of the interior parts. Be very careful cleaning it as it's probably VERY brittle around the speaker holes.

Just finished removing, put on a cap and painted to match on mine. Yes it is as easy as it looks.

These things are very fragile. I successfully R&R'd my original one, but my sons moved some things around in my absence and stuck a thumb through the middle grill. ARRRGHHH

Came out like a charm, decreased, painted, reinstalled. I'm a ninja that way. Got a mini booth and low humidity in the basement. Finish is a little lighter than the rest, but that may have something to do with cleanliness.

I can tell you that the dark patches that were on the pad seemed to "blossom" over the past two days. Almost doubled in size. After 3 coats you can still barely see where the patches were. Keeping an eye on that.

Otherwise she looks brand newbie!
