Died, no start

Dies on the way to pick up shrimp. Just started to flutter and then died, no restart hot or cold. Hooked up new coil, no start.

Code reader shows nothing, fuel pump primes .

Leaning toward TFI.

TFI replaced, no start.

Distributor not moving during crank....l am a victim of the gear. This is not my day. I hope everyone else's day is going well.

Turns over fine, cap,off rotor not moving. Timing belt intact.

She's done. Gotta replace the distributor/Gear, probably the Aux shaft and gears. Pulling the engine seems the best route for oil pan cleaning...most certainly for oil pump replacement. Darn...oh well.

If the dizzy gear is gone, replace the dizzy gear, auxiliary shaft and the oil pump.

Check / repair them in that order.

And STOP cranking it until this is fixed - there is no oil pressure.

( Sameless Plug: I have NOS auxiliary shafts available. )

BTW - If you pull the gearbox & bellhousing out, it's relatively easy from there to get the oil sump out with engine in place.

Just for clarification. You are telling me to replace all of those three items in that order regardless of condition. I can see the aux shaft gear missing teeth. So the pump must also be replaced.

P.s. at this point, I may as well remove the engine and freshen everything up. I tend to remove engines just to clean stuff. I of course lost most of my gear to a shoddy moving company, so this should be interesting.
