View Full Version : In the market for another SVO after my return from deployment April

I'm looking for another SVO once I return home. I'm not interested in any projects. I'm looking for a car reliable enough to drive across the United States. I'd like one with flawless paint, and interior (No holes). I'd like the a/c, and heat to work. (HEAT FOR SURE) open on the a/c. No rust. I'd like no mechanical issues. A modded SVO is acceptable, as well as a bone stock one. Not too interested in a "bolt on" car. I'd like the tires to be in good shape also. Original documents a plus of course. If anyone has a car they'd be interested in letting go for a fair price let me know. I'll have cash, unless I decide to use the bank. Motivated buyer,... again.

Well there is one in the forsale section:stick_poke:....http://www.svocop.com/forum/showthread.php?1864-86-1C-For-Sale.

I'll work out a deal to include the trailer it normally rides on as well:like3:

haha I want to put miles on something. That one has such low miles I'd be ashamed to drive it.

I drove mine From green bay to dallas, then to connecticut. Not a single problem. Where are you going to ultimately end up?

Welcome to visit here on return -God speed ! I too don't suggest low mile cars (as you won't drive them) !!

Would have a 85.5 Comp Prep (fits the no AC bill and holds valve nice) or a 85.5 4E that is Leather/Sunroof car. Both are around 60K miles and half the price of other cars in collection.

Ive seen this car around the internet a lot though it is nice it's not really my style as I like the factory look of the SVO.

I've got three for sale that fit your description. An '86 1C that I currently use as a daily driver (heater and AC work) stock. I also have an '86 1D, more of a show car (heat and A/C work), stock. I also have an '86 2R that I MAY sell, mostly stock, heat works. All three of these cars I'd feel comfortable driving across the country. I'm selling because I've acquired several other SVOs and need to thin the herd a bit.

Send me a PM if interested and I'll shoot you pictures, CarFax reports, and maintenance records.

How far do you want to drive and how much do you plan to spend? Do you have a color in mind? More details might get you the car you really want.

Glad you did .
If you do wait till return to see cars I'm sure they will all be here. That's one thing with SVO owners - we are always looking for a better car or a rarer car than we have!

Mark
P.S. I did learn not to OFFER on forum ! (Was doing it for you) Now getting messages about Comp Preps for sale ! LOL

I'm afraid this one wont be here when I get back. It has everything I'd put in a mild restomod svo. With my job I only get so many leave days. Not nearly enough to head to Canada, and check out that car then take it from Florida to Alaska. As for the price. I don't know if its haggle worthy. I mean it really would cost way more than what he's asking to build myself. I had an issue where I bought a 2a from a guy in Georgia who failed to tell me the transmission grinded between gears. THAT made me angry. I thought there was a lot of integrity in the SVOCA forum. It made it difficult for me to knock anything off the price considering he made me bring a cashier's check. Like I was going to rip him off,.... Any and ALL advise would be greatly appreciated.

Tell you what - I didn't plan on selling my 85.5 4e. IF you can't make the deal I will commit to holding until January and trailering it down to FL. If you want it you can buy it - if not I'm going to the Daytona 500 anyway.

Every car I bought sight unseen (3) had issues! It's almost like seller only tell you what you think to ask and feel fine with that. I've figured out that instead of asking about general condition of tires, drivetrain and parts - you have to ask if "they have a damp garage", Mice or if the car "makes it back from all excursions on it's own power" !

Mark
P.S. I have also learned to interpret terms in ads;
A) Low miles = odometer has just turned
B) Hardly Driven = Never starts so I can't use it
C) Never Fired Engine = this is my first rebuild so I'm afraid to start it
D) All Original = With the exception of x,x,x,x,x,x,x,x,x,x,x,x,x,x,x,x,x,x,x,x,x,x,x,x,x,x,x,x,x,x, x,x,x,x,x,x,x,x,x,x,x,x,x..........

I really appreciate the offer. An 85.5 4e is pretty rare. And shipping?! If this 85 4e deal doesn't work then I will deeply consider your vehicle. It's good advise. And I believe you're spot on. Hopefully there's nothing wrong with this one. 11k should buy me one I don't have to mess with for sure.

B & D ! LOL Actually pretty original - but it does have a Big Valve head. Rest of the car is stock. Chalkey took the E&G interior out and I replaced with original leather. (Never really liked the look of E&G) Then again I don't like the look of refurbished wheels ! (they too never look right, and use NOS SVO) I get a kick out of people's ads on Ebay "Last set and never going to see NOS SVO parts like these".

You can have any one you want. (I just have to reduce the price to the point you will be happy) I see the low end prices of nice cars are now creeping up again. This is true in other car markets also. IMO the best buys will be really nice cars or lower mileage cars in comparison. Look at the SVO's that have sprung up - now that $10K figure is floating around!

People that want to sell a car , but don't need to (or don't want to loose money) that can wait did and will use other cars to market theirs. In the case of people with multiple cars they often get bored or price against their cars they value or won't sell.

I've always said "If you want a car - go to CA , as the people don't have big garages and when they are ready for a new car they HAVE to sell the other one in the garage!"

Mark
P.S. What's with the Alaska? (I only deliver to Washington State in July for the round up)

What are the productions numbers on a 85.5 4e comp prep? That has to be pretty rare and very expensive. My home is in Orlando, but I'm stationed in Alaska. I plan to trailer an SVO to Anchorage when I get leave days after deployment.

only 4 were made? Did I read that correctly?

There were NO 1985.5 Comp Prep cars built in 4E paint.

Of the 4 Green 85.5 cars I have seen 3 of them. Not sure if the other cloth car is known.

1 Cloth no sunroof
1 Cloth sunroof
1 Leather No sunroof
1 Leather Sunroof

Fleet Ford in showing to Hertz in 1985 - really thought they would re-up and buy the "improved" car (but we know they didn't). They looked at the car - but the costs compared to other cars in the fleets nixed their interest. One of the two 89 DSO cars is still in MI owned by a retired Ford employee. (Andy sold the other to Mike and he resold a couple of years ago)

Mark
P.S. Trailer to Alaska! I'm ready. you can keep the F350 4X4 and trailer too)! (Doubt I would want to drive home)

Haha, the price tag on all of that would be way out of my range; heck the car is out of my price range haha. That is one sweet trailer though. I was going to rent a uhaul trailer and tow the one I bought behind my girlfriend's truck. What's the price on the car?

TheSVOTrust

Didn't want to do this on forum !! (BUt I if you are deployed at the moment and can't call)

Once you see where you are with all others - will be happy to make anything happen for you. I said half of the Comp Preps - so at 25K that is $12.5K. IF someone convinced me that $20K is the price for a 2000 Mile Comp Prep then that is $10K.

I know I wouldn't sell for less than that TODAY if cash walk into the garage! But as stated if holding, (storage and delivery - your words) are valued then $12.5K is the right price! But I see cars at 11K -so I'm prepared to split difference - at 11,750 (with 1750.00 committed now) I would deliver to Florida (on our time frame). The only thing the car doesn't have is a hood pad ($1000) and the AC compressor (Cheap) as I robbed it to sell the Blue car. (I would install a NOS pad and compressor with any earnest money -as to be ready for 2014)

Mark
P.S. So you know that 2003 F350 Crew Cab 4 X 4 has a rebuilt title so it too is worth $12.5K with the trailer !

I was pretty interested in both of his cars he offered. If he still has the comp prep for sale once I return to Orlando January 2016 I would love to purchase it. I'd be interested in a 3rd SVO.
