Bad Koni Strut, Need help

So I am guessing this is bad? Drivers side Koni strut can be moved in and out like an accordion. Here is the pic:

Options? Could I have done this removing the strut? I had reinstalled the right side Koni but pulled it again for comparison. It seems okay.

Nope, the smoke has leaked out. It should be rebuilt (if original owner, it's free by KONI) or replaced with working used or new.

Thanks Mike that is what I thought. Anyway I could have done that during removal?

Anyway I could have done that during removal? Nope - without drilling a hole in the outer body and relieving the prssure inside. I don't think taking the top nut off will leak the pressure out.

Had the same with mine, they were just worn out! I contacted Koni, they quoted $150 labor + parts and two way shipping per strut. For me it was cheaper to just get new unless your looking to have an 100% original part numbered show car

I have another question. I put in the passenger side Koni today and there is interference between to sway bay and the strut when turning the spidle to the the left. Should I wait until it is all back together before I worry? I also had installed lowering springs.
