Taurus Fan Upgrade

Hello everyone,

Anyone contemplated or know about the Taurus Fan Upgrade for the turbo-4's? I've seen people with 5.0's doing it.

The reason I ask is I can't help but notice that my LA3 has an output for low and high fan settings.... Looks like I'd be all the way there with two relays and a diode...

would using the ECU to trigger it involve using the stock high failure rate fan controller?

I am not familiar as to what a LA3 is but I am planning on adding a Sable (Taurus) fan to my 5.0 so I am interested in this topic and the way they are controlled. I suppose if there is the ability for the computer to monitor and control it that is good. Does it really matter though? Again, just my naive interpretation.

Make sure you use a very low-power relay to be driven by the EEC. More than an amp through a driver in the PE series will kill the driver; I would expect the same for the LA3.

Apparently the answer from the Jeep guys is a two-speed fan controller from a Volvo. Not sure of the year exactly, there are plenty on e-bay (2 speed volvo fan controller) if you want a picture.
