From left to right: Picture 1 (Behind driver strut tower) Picture 2 (Behind passenger strut tower) Picture 3 (Plugged Vac tree ports) Picture 4 ( you tell me, appears to be a missing link to pic 1 or 2, was not connected to anything) Picture 5 ( EGR/boost sol. was not on the car just came with it) picture 6 (Another plugged port) pic 7 (oh look, more plugged ports. I know the white capped port is where the hose would connect coming from the bock seperator/pcv )

Appears the P/O deleted some things and jumpered terminals together. I have been researching some wiring diagrams and such on Mitchellondemand and somedata, As some of you probably are already aware, you can find more from online resources and people who have factory literature or knowledge of the svo than you can on mitchel. Especially when it comes to pinpointing connector locations and or component locations via 25 year old information (Boy how wiring diagrams have changed) The very limited wiring diagrams I have found have not pointed me in much of a right direction. I have fixed most of the electrical gremlins but am stuck on this one.

Questions (And im going to guess mike will know these off the top of his head) What are the connectors in pic 1,2,4 are they related. Im assuming so. What did the previous owner try to do? did he do it correctly? my shot at it is that it has to do with boost control.

2. does anybody run their svo without the egr/boost control (Pic5) elaboration on this would be great. It seems to run fine without it thus far.

Pic 1 looks like the pressure switch that puts full voltage to the fuel pump circuit. Looks like someone removed the switch and bypassed its function. Someone with an 86 that has that switch still installed can verify the connector type.

Pic 2 looks like the AC pressure switch on the accumulator can.

Pic 3 looks pretty normal. Iirc there were two capped ports on my 84 originally.

S/b large hose from intake manifold, large hose to one-way valve on brake booster, one medium hose that goes into the harness to the boost gauge, to the EGR/O'OOST switches/solenoids and one adapter to a nylon line that goes to the vacuum reservoir int he RF fender area, that also goes to the heater box controls. IIRC.

Don't recognize the item in the next pic.

The small pic looks like the O'BOOST switch and EGR solenoid and associated check valves. The EGR solenid has a two-wire electrical connection and a two-hose molded fitting that uses two nylon lines - one to the vacuum port block and one the to the EGR valve nipple.

Next up is a non-2.3L EFI Turbo throttle body. Don't say what that TB is form, so don't know what that port is used for. But it's not used on this engine. So it's probably a good idea to cap it.

Can't make out the next pic. Needs more light and more focus (or maybe I need more beer?).

The last pic with the red I cannot make out at all what it's showing.

HTH!

Thanks so much mike! I will try and get some more focused pictures after work soon. I have no idea what that t/b is from, its odd that its replaced. So is it okay/common to run the svo's without the egr/ o'boost switch and egr solenoid? I am assuming the previous owner deleted this to be able to up boost. I just am just wondering if ill be okay without it, or if i need to hook it all back up.

The O'BOOST switch just switched on a buzzer and lamp - it did not change anything as far a engine management. On the SVO the O'BOOST switch would activate at 17.5 PSIG.

THe EGR plays as semi-important role in part-throttle cruise modes. It helps reduce part-throttle detonation and inproves MPG. Many folks don't understand EGR and they disable/remove things that don't understand.

The EGR is still intact, of course the nipple port on the egr is plugged. I suppose the only way to fix it is to put the whole assembly in picture 5 back on the car and run the nylon line back to the egr. Those two plugs in the image that is a "attachment" are the two plugs I found and figured out go to the egr/overboost assembly behind the passenger strut tower. I may need some help running the hoses when i install the egr/overboost assembly.
