2.3L turbo engine worth the effort and cost? (FYI AD)

It's a carburated engine so it isnt an SVO motor correct? My question is for the $250 is there anything worth salvaging off a block like this that may be a swap with the 86 SVO I do have? Head, turbo. Maybe I am looking too far into the future for my needs. Any input would help. Thanks!

dont focus too much on just a turbo block.. remember the NA blocks are the same Minus the Drain. The cranks/rods are the same (just comparing mustangs..nevermind ranger 2.3, 2.5s)

Okay, you're wrong:
Carbed turbo's used a flattop, 9:1 forged piston that's pretty infamous for melting from a bad tune, with the carb. They'd probably hold up a bit better with the increased control of EFI. The head will be an oval port, not a d-port, so while the intake manifold will bolt up (make sure to drill/tap the extra hole the square intake uses), and function okay, it wouldn't be as ideal as having a d-port head/intake combo.

Well, that explains a little in a short papragraph. It just caught my attention when I saw 2.3 turbo. It was worth a chance. Cheap spare parts would be good when they seem to be less common every year.

Not that I need an engine or spare parts. Since I got back into cars this past winter I can't seem to get enough. Shopping for deals, parts etc. seems to be a new bad habit. Beats smoking though. The only thing is no SVO parts come up locally that I have seen. This ad for the engine is the closest and its not even accurate.
