I'm not sure if the switch was working when I purchased the car but it is not functioning now. When I press the pedal I get nothing, no matter how hard I press. I can reach under the dash and push the plate on the switch and the brake lights come on. I have tried every way I can think of to reinstall the switch assembly but no joy. This is the way it is put together currently and no brake lights.

It doesn't seem to have enougg play in it to trigger the switch, any suggestions are appreciated.

Oh yeah, this is in my '84 svo.

That looks like my installation. It's almost like it needs shimmed to make it work or pull the bushing out?

Is there a wee bit of slop in the pedal pin to the MC pushrod?

And the switch end is flat against the end of the MC pushrod end?

I took the switch apart and bent the piece that contacts the master cylinder push rod, it was slightly concave. This still didn't make the light work, it was taking just a bit too much travel to make the connection. I removed the bushing and now the light comes on. I will probably order a new switch to see if I can replace the bushing just for piece of mind. I plan to drive the car to work tomorrow, it will be it's maiden voyage of more than a mile or so. Wish me luck.
