Just journaling the PCV system modification I did on the crankcase breather side (by the distributor).
Personally, I was tired of having to remove the PCV hose everytime I needed to do something with my distributor, which has been more frequent then one should expect I suppose.
So when poking through the junkyard, I found a PCV crankcase breather that came up at an angle rather than straight across and forward. This lifts the hose, and hopefully gives me room to get to the retaining bolt for the distributor. The outlet is also a slightly smaller diameter.
I'm not sure which 2.3 Mustangs had it, supposedly it was a `89 I took it off but my own `89 has the horizontal one. And the later `93's all have one that goes straight forward and then tries to wrap back around a full 180 degrees to get to the back of the engine manifold. So all the years that have that kind of intake, I presume, have that kind of breather.
The problem came in finding the hose. No one sells PCV hoses for the 2.3, not even all the junkyards. Well, except Prestige which did have one that came up at an angle, which helps reassure me that this find isn't a fluke. (Actually I've seen a few in the junk yards).
So in my hose hunting I found a combination of hoses that I think works.
Upper: GATES Part # 18021, a good cut to fit L shaped hose for ~ 3/8" applications
Lower: GATES Part # 18748, Z shaped with 90 degree bends, tapers from 3/4 (fits over the PCV valve) to 5/8 (fits on crankcase breather). I trimmed about 5/8" off the crankcase breather end.
