Hi I have a 84 svo the I think the quadrant has been replaced because the pedal does not move backwards to adjust. It has the firewall adjuster. The guy I bought the car off of said it has a 5.0 clutch cable. My pedal is extremely stiff it does not bother me to bad I just know something is wrong and it needs fixed. Any ideas?

As the disk wears, the pedal leverage gets lower so the pedal pressure always increases.

Yuo should also lube all the pivot points as they will wear too.

Does it still have the bell crank and short cable? That bellcrank has two needle roller bearings inside that should get lubed periodically. Lastly the clutch fork has a pivot post inside that can wear along with the fork. Fords are unobntainim but the pivot stud is still available from Ford. Unfortunately this requires removal of the gearbox and bell housing to replace/service.

I believe it still has the dog bone I have not looked under the boot on the side of the trans. It will be getting a new clutch and short shifter after Christmas so it will get a good inspection. I was just curious if there was a common issue with this.

Do you know what clutch is in it? Some performance clutches can be very stiff.

Also a fraying or worn cable will cause a significant increase in pedal pressure.

Disconnect one end o the main cable and move it by hand. If there is any roughness or binding, replace it.

I do not know the clutch but I have driven some stage 4 clutches and this is stiffer than that. And thanks mike I will try that.
