swapping green tops to brown

So I would like to swap injectors and get the pe ecm. are the pig tails for the green tops the same as the brown?

Yes, electrically and physical-size wise, they are identical. Only the flow amount will change.

Also discocnnect the knock sensor (if you still have the in-line intake) and the Boost Control Module when installing the PE. The 84/85 BCM/BCS combination does not work with the PE (and later) EECs.c Then you will need to install a manual boost control system, or a later solenoid that can be driver directly by the PE output.

The PE series ecm I think it was the 85 and 86 svo ecm but I could be wrong.

The "PE" EEC was specific to the square-intake 85.5/86 SVO and came on no otehr vehicle. The programming (timing tables) are the msot aggressive available for the 4-cyl turbo EFI engine. It uses a 7.5Mhz processor and has 16K of programming data space.

The LA2/3 are from the 87/88 manual gearbix TurboCoupe. IT was a heavier car and has less aggressive timing tables. The LA series integrated cooling fan control, boost contorl, ABD/PRC communications and a host of other outputs into the EEC. It uses a 15Mhz processor nad has 32KB ROM programming space.

So the PE is a more direct fit while the LA* have more "features", typical computer industry "bloat".

TE, PJ, PE, LA2, LA3, etc. refer to EEC "calibrations" for the assorted ECU's used in various Ford cars. Different years, calibrations, CA vs 49-state vs ROW (rest of world) versions, engine/gearbox combos, etc. determine which calibration (or version of EEC) it came with.

PE was the last SVO calibration; LA2 was for the 87 TC manual, LA3 88 TC manual, LB2 87 TC auto, LB3 88 TC auto, etc.

The selection of original equip calibrations for the SVO are very limited. There was only a few calibrations, dependent on year. There were no California vs 49-state vs ROW applications - just SVO.

The nomenclature we refer to are markings on the EEC box itself indicating the calibration. I can post pics later of examples.

Most of the above EECs can be modified using an add-on chip and appropriate software. They're no where near as advanced as OBD stuff though.

Ok so was the LA3 tuned for the heavier car making my svo's throttle response better than if I swapped in a PE? Also in the future I am planning for a boport 1.9 cam and maybe a hybrid turbo. Would you recommend the moates quarterhorse and the binary editor or the pimp standalone system I am new to tuning but I feel that I can do it.

I was thinking the pimp system just because it is an all in one package and I like the megasquirt style tuning.

I now have a LA3 in place now , I have chance to get a PE , if I have to re pin the master plug is there some place where I can get the schematic for doing so?
