Alternator harness

I've checked several sites that offer connectors and wiring but never saw the connector(s) and/or the harness.

Anyone have a source? Seems this connector may be hot from time to time.

NAPA, etc. used to (and still should) have it available. Note that is comes with a 10-gauge wire and associated size flat blade connector for the power feed that is totally inadequate for a 65A alternator. It should have come with a 68 or 6 gauge wire and connector. The rest of the electrical harness is also seriously under capacity for most electrical things (charging wires, lights, electric fan, etc.).

In all of my searching, I have yet to find this style connector. Even on this site which seems to have everything.

The only reason I was looking for this style was to stay as original as possible, but knowing the inadequacies of the wiring (I modified the goofy fan through PC board wiring many years ago) I should look for a better connector and probably will when I begin to conquer some of the wiring issues.

The connector shown is from my 83TC but I believe it's the same as the SVO. Which has the same melted area! :(

Should be the same harness and connector on [most all] all 79-86 engines.

It really needs to be replaced with a 60+ amp connector design when used with a more powerful alternator, or with a 4-6 gauge wire, with a 200A fuse in-line.

That looks nasty , have you tryed the dealer ? I have got plugs for my car with no problems.

Replace it with a pat-in-la harness, assuming it's still available....

The pat-in-la harness sounds interesting....don't know anything about it. Doubt if my local Ford dealers will be of any help. Seems the female connector is made of unobtainium which is probably no big deal because it's terminals and wire are undersized anyhow.

I may still have a few sets around. They separate the field and stator wires from the Battery positive wire, and the replacement for the 10 gauge (Battery positive) wire is a fused 4 gauge, which is separated from the two smaller wires. They are $45 plus shipping. I'll take a look this weekend to find a few sets if you like.

I'm in no rush but I'd appreciate seeing some pictures of the harness if you can find one.
