Well got bad news from machine shop, the head of my car is toast. Cracks thru the combustion chambers in 2 & 3. A spare replacement head I had was bad also so now I need a good ( no cracks) stock head.
Looks like Bo Port doesn't have their stock reworked heads anymore so anybody know of any other possiable sources or have a good head they are willing to sell.
Over the last year the whole car has been restored (interior, suspention, paint) so have too much into it to bag it now.
Thanks

Saw where Esslinger was looking for good heads - if they are looking then the remaining supplies must be real low. I would look for a N.O.S. head and save the potential headaches. The cracks are common with these heads. Shipping is a little pricey (crating req'd.) so look for one locally if possible.
Sold my last two this past year.

the guys at turbo ford make it out like porting the chambers on the N/A heads is soo much easier than trying to track down a turbo head. i would look into that

Well that sucks.... don't know of any at the moment but will be on the lookout. Gotta be something out there. Scares me a bit with 2 2.3's in my garage. I'm guessing the machine shop said there is no hope in fixing them?

Other than reworking the chambers what else would have to be done to be able to use it in case I can't find a good turbo head?
Thanks

So what are the differences between our turbo heads and a NA head? Where are the turbo heads likely to crack?

They crack between the exhaust and intake valve and the exhaust to water jacket. Look here:

Dave,
Here are the pics.
There are cracks on the seats, the heavy yellow was a paint marker from the shop indicating the cylinders that had cracks.

I am having hardened seats installed so those small areas should machine out. Block is heading to shop tomorrow and I'll get the head over to them as soon as it arrives
