I thought I had seen somewhere that we can swap the front seats so I can put the perfect passenger seat over to the drivers side.

I don't see why not, except for the seat back release (which doesn't work in my 86 SVO anyway)....

... the seat back release (which doesn't work in my 86 SVO anyway).... Doesn't release or doesn't latch?
It's not suppsed to latch except in high-G forces or on steep hills.

Mike, Let's put it this way, last time I did an auto-x, I had to use the passenger seat belt to keep the seat from flopping forward

Chris That way it will get ruined like the driver in 50K miles or so! (Nothing like having a matched set) Sarcastic Mark

So that's it? Just unbolt one for the other and swap 'em? I am surprised this hasn't been discussed before.

Just swapping seats will put the knob for the seat base on the inside against the counsel.

Yes. My son's SVO has two passenger seats. No issues.

Acutally, the seat base adjustment is in the front of the seat. However, the seat back (recline) is indeed placed against the console. It makes it difficult but not impossible to adjust.

The side bolster becomes unreachable, no biggie.
