Well its time to break down and buy a clutch and I was going to go with the spec stage 2 but that is some serious cash. Are there any other options that are a upgrade?

What mods do you have?

sorry for the late reply I have been pretty busy. As of now I am stock but I have been stockpiling some go fast parts and I am just going to wait until I have everything to put them on the car. I am planning to have around 250 hp.

Some one else might chime in but I would think at 250 HP you could make the stock clutch go a long way unless your drag racing all the time.

Honestly a spec stage 2 would do just fine for anything you can throw at it. But I agree a stage 1 will be fine for any daily driver and the occasional outburst.

This is a good time to ask recommendations for my 86 with goals of 325 WTQ 3100LB car? 245/45 17 RS2's. Mainly street and rare open track-autocross. All the threads with Spec stage 3 or 3+ are love it or hate it. Are there better options for drivability that will take the power?

I am a spec fan boy so.... my opinion is biased. But any performance clutch designed for big HP #s will drive you nuts in traffic. Honestly I would still go stage 2 or 2+ tops. Stage 3 is for over 400 torque. I have a stage 2+ and my car is right around the 300rwhp mark and the stage 2+ is ok in traffic but I avoid traffic anyway ;). I have had a stage 1 and it was much more like a stock clutch as far as pedal feel but I was afraid it wont last long so I changed it out. So far I have had a centerforce dual friction (hated it) had a stage 1, stage 3, stage 2 and a stage 2+ (I loved owning forced4...lots of product testing). I think I like this 2+ the best so far. It is a little grabby but I have only 1k on it so far. Once I hit 3k on it I may change my mind but.... we will see.

oh there are a lot more than occasional outbursts. My car is frequently beaten up on and I don't plan on stopping at 250hp so that is kind of what sold me on the stage 2

and clutch pedal effort is not a big deal there is something wrong with mine and is stiffer than any stage 3 I have driven. I am pretty used to it lol.
