Ok I looked up new replacement valve springs for my head rebuild and found two Sealed Power part numbers shown for the 2.3 Turbo,

First was VS1459, and the next was VS 1541.

Specs on the VS1459 were shown as follows:

Outside Diam 1.35
Wire Diam 0.17
Coils 6
Height Closed 1.8
Closed Press 33.3
Open Height 1.3
Open Press 130.2
Type S/D

I can't find specs on the VS 1541

Also found a Melling part VS1065.

Specs:
Outside Diam 1.35
Wire 0.17
Coils 6
Height Closed 1.52
Closed Press 78
Height Open 1.12
Open Press 160

Question is which springs would be best to use with a ranger roller cam.

Thanks

Actually none of the specs abve is desirable. Stock springs have ~78 Lbs closed pressure and are ~1 Lbs/In. The top spec list shows 33Lbs closed seat pressure? WTF? Not good for over 2000 RPM, if that.

What RPM range are you planning on? What kids of seats are in the head (stock, uncut hardened iron ones (replacement stellite, etc)? Any future plans for cam/spring changes? Any machining to the head for larger lift?

Roller profiles (and roller rockers) can tolerate more spring pressure and if the RPM is gonna be above stock (which is unlikely with a RR), then more pressure again is desired. I would recommend in the 90-110 seat pressure (closed) and 150 Lbs/In minimum with at least enough room before coil bind for a 0.500" Lift (without the stem seal in place).

Mike,
Since I found NOS turbo springs im going that route.

With the exception of the Ranger roller this is just a stock head rebuild. New valves, guides, seals (the better ones you posted in another thread), hardened seats, and the NOS springs. Block has good cylinders with a light hone, new rings, bearings, polished crank, oil pump etc. All stock NOS or stock replacement parts. Rebuilt turbo also. Car isn't going to get raced or flogged hard. This is just a restoration project to get it back to as new running condition.
