The walkaround makes sense of the numerous intersecting lines and angles on the P1, like the main intakes placed inside the doors, the vents just ahead of the front wheels that were added later in road testing to get more cooling to the radiators, the vents on the rear to cool the clutches and the titanium-mesh chimney behind the roof intake.

Mackenzie also talks about the Race setting that lowers the whole car 50 millimeters - below the minimum height of road legality in the UK, in fact - and how the raised rear wing automatically changes pitch to reduce drag when you take the coupe above 160 mph. This is what you get when you sit aerodynamicists, engineers and designers in the same room to shrink-wrap a street-legal body around a 900-horsepower chassis. There comes a point that you have to ask, what's the point?

A devoted Porschephile buddy of mine just purchased a mid-'80s BMW 535i with a bunch of go fast goodies. He told me that it was much more fun than his far more competent Porsche (s) and finds himself driving it 4 out of 5 work days a week. We drove around in it and you had the same sense of connection to the road and experience that we get with our SVOs. Today's cars are so competent, or in this case over competent, that there is little "driving" left to do.

Yeah I watched the review of this on Top Gear, as well as the review for the new hybrid Porsche, they are examples of unbelievable engineering tour de force. But, meh... I'd rather have the McLaren F1 without all the driving aids. A Ferrari F40 over a ?? (I don't think Ferrari has one in this hunt) I'd rather have the brawling nasty 930 over the new Porsche.

To a certain extent, I think these new cars are going to end up killing a bunch of no talent big wallets. They'll think they have these things learned, turn off the nanny aids and end up stuffing them.

Don't get me wrong, I think its great that they make these cars but most will get stuck in climate controlled garages and rarely turn a wheel.

which is what the early Miuras were most famous for - their ability to kill rock stars.

Iirc 80%+ of rock star deaths from the early 60's to later 70's were due to plane crashes, car crashes and assorted (depressant) drugs such as heroin. Not sure of the order though.
