Fuel pump replacement

Any input on a Bosch fuel pump part #69124? Can't seem to find the spec.'s listed. I have an '86 (flush headlights) and I didn't see a 2nd pump anywhere under the passenger side (jacked it up and traced the fuel lines from filter to fire wall); so I believe I have a single high pressure pump in the tank. Pressure is appx. 30 psi at fuel rail valve; up to maybe 35 psi when driving; dropping as low as 20 psi when hot and not starting? Stumble and hesitates under boost. Runs very well out of boost. New; plugs, wires, cap, rotor, TFI, EGR, fuel filter, FPR. Does the turbo have a waste gate valve or equivalent? When I let up after boost I here a hissing sound like pressure releasing. Probably won't get to the fuel pump until late this month Thanks.

The 86 models have a single-in-tank pump. It is OEM made by Borg-Warner - the single pump systems do not use BOSCH pumps.

IIRC the stock system used an 88 lph high-presure pumpo and the more popular replacements are the 190 or 255 lph units, both of which area direct replacement.

Stop driving it until the fuel pump is replaced. The engine is running dangerously lean under power with the pressure that low.

Change the filter and re-check the pressure.

These pressure reading were post fuel filter and FPR replacement. Thanks, I won't drive it until I get the fuel pump replaced. Mike, I read your article on injector replacement; nice job. Your engine bay is incredible; I had no idea. If I could even get partly there I'd be happy. Well done!

But my car is black, tee hee. What does IIRC mean? Should I be looking for a Borg Warner fuel pump rated at 190-225 (part #?); or perhaps another manufacturer? Walbro? Would like a direct replacement fit. Any tips appreciated- just trying to make a nice strong driver.

In regards to new fuel pump; I find parts Walbro GSS340, GSS342, GSS307- Edelbrock 17935- and BBK1607. Any thoughts on these for my '86. Are there other places in the fuel system that could cause low pressure, especially when warm parked? I bought this from the orig owner who kept detailed fuel log, oil change records, repairs, and there is an entry for new fuel pump less than 700 miles ago (no actual receipts); but dated June of 2011!

The fuel pressure regulator could be bad. Pull the vacume line off and if wet the regulator needs replacing. The Walbro pump you want is GSS340. By the way was that your Black SVO on the side of Interstate 5 over the Superbowl weekend?

Not me. I think I saw one in Lacey, Wa. Fri. morning of Superbowl weekend headed for I-5 under its own power. It was a bit dusty. I have a new FPR, and fuel filter.
