pip?

I replaced my TFI as per ignition post. Intermittent missing still present. Questions: what are failure modes and symptoms of a failing pip? Can pip be replaced without removing the distributor?

From what I read, the PIP sensor can intermittently fail, and apparently like the TFI can test good when cold and fail when hot. You have to pull the distributor to change it. Here's a link for a SBF, but the concept is basically the same. The only good thing about replacing these kind of things is that the price of parts won't break the bank.

I ALWAYS recommend to replace TFI and PIP at same time. So they don't fight.
