Help please, need front seal cover!!!

Also you will need to specify which pan/block style seal holder you need. Iirc the two types would be

early - with the recess over the hump that uses a 4-piece pan gasket and
late - no recess on hump - smooth - and uses a one piece gasket.

The early one uses two different thread bolts to mount the pan - lots of 6mm bolts (10mm hex head) and four 8mm bolts (13mm hex head) around the humps. Later ones use only 6mm (10mm hex head) bolts, iirc.

I'll probably get banned for posting this in the parts wanted section instead of the tech section, but I've always cursed that 4 piece pan to block gasket & 2 different sized mounting bolts on the Grey car. I thought that was "normal" on 86's, but I know I bought a car with a non-original motor. Can you elaborate on this?

AFAIK they didn't go to the one-piece pan gasket until at least MY 1988 (or later). My 1987 TCs did not have it.

The engine is upside down on the engine stand. Pm me if you would like to sell that spare cover you have . It is recessed over the hump, and it has the goofy pan gaskets .

The engine is upside down on the engine stand. Yep, noticed that the engine is inverted. While the seal holder is right-side up in the pic, inverted from it's normal, installed position on the block.

That cover looks to have the larger 8mm thread size next to the hump, so it is the earlier cover. Also post on tf - lots of folks there have spare parts too. That is a very common part from 1974 through at least 1988 - turbo or non-turbo engine.

BTW - the Ford part number is E9TZ-6019-C, which is NR/obsolete but still stocked in a few places. Listed price is $233.33, plus shipping. I believe that qualifies as a "Double OUCH!" )

Is the difference between the two you have pictured the difference that mike pointed out earlier? One is for the one piece oil pan gaskets and the other for the multi piece older style pan gaskets? Mine has the recessed area on the "hump" not the smooth hump surface.
