United Ford Owners AutoX Sunday May 25th at Columbus Motor Speedway. Tech at 10:30; first car run approx. Noon.

Why so late? Around here we have tech open at 0700, drivers meeting 0815 and first car out at 0830.

I like to sleep until noon on days that I don't have to work, so I'm gonna ask why this is starting so early.

But ... but ... auto-x and tracking ARE work.

Anytime I pack a lunch - that does not include beer - is officially a work day. IMHO.

I wish my car was ready, I'd like to autocross with the UFO guys. Maybe next year.
Mike, around here it doesn't get too hot for the normal folk...that is why we don't have to start events when the sun rises. With that being said, I'll add that first car off at noon is a bit later than I'm used to also.

We usually have 5+ hours or running to get through so in addition to trying to get done before all the skin on our heads and arms has baked to well sone condition, there's the issue of darkness approaching. Eventually. Not sdo much in summer time though. Our autox pad does not have lighting.

OP - when it starts at noon, when does it finish? How many cars/drivers usually attend?

Hi Mike, There's a noise ordinance 'til noon Sunday, usually get 30-50 cars...get 4-6 runs, finish around 3-3:30. Cars are loosely classified and run pretty much round robin. More informal and about fun. No autoX lawyers.

You guys take it way easy down South, we work on a similar schedule to Mike's up here as well. Of course both clubs that run by me get 50-150 cars, so runs usually last till 4:30-5:30pm, even with the early start times. I am usually out of the house by 6:30am so I don't have a 45 minute wait at tech for auto-x and I am pulling out of the garage at first light for a track day. Either way both kinds of events last longer than a normal 'work' day.

In any case, hope you guys have good weather and times at the event!

Our local SCCA pulls in up to 200 cars and takes a similar amount of time. Our club is less structured. Hope you get to run soon. Cheers
