Is this a turbo "d" port head? Compared to some pics online it looks like the chamber shape is the same d shape but it appears that this head has a deeper chamber around the straight part of the d shape. Either that or pictures are deceiving.http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/06/03/ananu3yt.jpg

Iirc the stock "D" port head is about 64cc in volume.

I have no way of measuring the port cc at home. Guessing there OS no way to tell by looking at it. Is the d port only a turbo head? I was under the influence that the n/a heads have a heart shape. But like I said before this chamber looks different than some pictures I've seen of turbo d heads

if i am not mistaken the combustion chambers on all the 2.3's is 59.55-62.55. as i recall the chambers are all the same configuration. the pistons are what is different as the dish is larger.
now this is from recall and many moons and 2.3's from long ago. now that i think about it the chambers are the same from the first 2.3/pintos. of course the turbo heads are different in the intake ports.
i hope my memory is not the only thing going away.LOL

The heart shaped chambers are smaller (less cc volume).

Also, the D-port head refers to the intake port shape, not the combustion chamber. If you look at an earlier head, the intake ports are oval shaped and for the later versions they brought the floor of the port up to flatten it out, so it is if the 'D' is laying on its back side facing up. My former 79 & 80 4-cyl Mustangs had oval port heads while the SVO has D-port heads. The combustion chambers varied a bit through the years, but not by too much from what I remember. Never bothered to CC my combustion chambers, so I can speak to anything there.

This seems like the right place to add my findings in my Capri RS 2.3t

I was taking off parts to clean and detail and notice the air pump holes.
I havent pulled off the head... I believe its the original head.
Green top injectors and no intercooler.

I have never seen an original 2.3L OHC Turbo head with AIR holes in the exhaust ports.

Looks like my old head off my '80 2.3L NA Mustang. Those were for the air pumps that the carb'd cars used, heck even one of my headers for that car had the inlets for the air pump and check valve. I wonder if they had 'leftover' stock of the NA heads that they used on the early 2.3t's??
