Proper SVO PCV Valve

This question comes up every now and then so I'll just leave this here.

The correct PCV valve for the turbo EFI 2.3L OHC as used in the SVO and TC is Motorcraft EV-127-A (aka E5ZZ-6A666-A).

(Yep, it really has that many sixes in it.)

Thanks Mike, I think I am about due to purchase 3 of them, one for each turbo car.
When I asked for one for our SVO & the TCs at the local parts stores they tried to sell me units that had a vacuum tree.

The NOS ones I have here read "W.A.P." (with attaching parts) which one might think to be the hose clamp. But no. it comes with a runner cap end to cap the non-existent vac hose nipple. And an instruction sheet.

I don't recall the part number, but Yes, the first production engines used a different part. You can find the part number from rockauto. iirc the upper hose that goes to the bottom of the in-line intake was a slightly larger internal diameter, but I've slept since then.

That's what I was finding in my search. I need to check the PCV on my 83 TC but I know it's white and the EV-76 on my 84 SVO is black. Different manufacturer?

Amazing how many PCV valve part numbers there are. Sure seems complicated for such a simple part.

Since Napa, Autozone, & OReilly are all within two blocks of each other in Prescott Valley Az, I drove up there & tried all three of them today with the numbers above.
None of them were able to correlate the numbers with anything they carry.

Are these PVC valves only available from Ford Dealers?

Confirmed, the SVO has a black EV-76 and the 83TC has a white EV-76.

I just bought three Motorcraft EV127A PCV Valves from amazon for $30.75 Shipped.

The local dealer wanted $18.61 each, plus tax and could get them in about as fast as Amazon will deliver them to my door & save me the 20 miles drive each way to the dealership.
I believe in supporting local businesses, but nearly double in price is not in my scope of negotiations.

Funny... When I first started selling the EV127 they were white. and about a year into it all I could get were the black ones.. I was never able to get an answer out of my motorcraft dealer. I saw no difference in performance and no complaints from customers either except for a person (who will remain nameless) who was doing a concourse resto.

I just pulled the old PCV Valve out of our early 84 1C and it is neither white nor black???


It is made of metal and has 2287 & made in the USA stamped on it, but no name brand.

On the inside bottom valve it is stamped with an F

Ding, Ding, Ding we have a winner folks!!

At $3.29 how would you say these compare with the Motorcraft EV127 as far as quality goes?

Fram Quality:

If made BEFORE 12/1988 = best available in aftermarket parts.
Made AFTER 01/1989 = next to worst quality available.

Once the parent company was sold to the assorted holding companies their quality went form the top to the bottom real fast over the past two decades.

I have no idea how long that thing had been on the car, but with the new Motorcraft PCV I seem to have lost something…………………..?????



The surging idle that the car has had since I bought it.

I drove it about 40 miles today & it purred like a kitten at idle all day.

Is that possible? Could I have spent the past year & half doing everything that came to my mind trying to fix the idle & it was a malfunctioning PCV Valve all the time?
Could a PCV valve also keep the engine & turbo from performing as they should? The SVO ran better today than it ever has & spooled up like crazy when I got into it on the highway in second & third.

Swap in the old Fram PCV and go for another ride. It will be interesting to know if that caused the issues.

National parts depot has them for $6.43 pn: m-6a666-6 they also have NOS white ones for 13.85 PN m-6a666-1
