I have been hunting for just the right 86GT Convertible since I sold (almost gave away) my 1st one to my younger brother a few years ago.
Last week Sue & I found an almost totally original, 114,000 mile Jalapeño Red (YES it is another red!!!) 5 speed with white leather interior.
We decided to drive it home from Spokane instead of the Mountaineer & are now deep in the mountains of northern Idaho (Challis) on our three day journey southward.
So far, the car is performing as it should, but the 2.73 rear gear and the wide spacing between 4th & 5th cause us to cruise in fourth gear much of the time on 2 lane roads, to keep from lugging it.

We had some exhaust work done to it, treated the interior & top and waxed the body up a bit before pointing it toward Phoenix. So far we are pretty happy with the purchase & having a fun second honeymoon trip.

Whouzee Joe,
I hope our GT shines like yours some day.
As soon as I get home I plan to start rubbing it with clay bars, then use #7 Meguiars, & finally apply a couple of coats of Meguiars #26 or Gold class. It has pretty tired paint so I am not sure how far I can bring up the shine on it.

While we are at it, could you just box up that nice clean garage and ship it to my house in Prescott? LOL

My 86 has been treated to a full repaint in BC/CC and then cut an buffed out. It was pretty beat when I first bought it several years ago (full rebuild thread over at FEP).

The garage isn't as clean as you might think. The cars tend to hide a lot of "stuff" I've got lying around, plus the angle of the photo makes it appear to be less cluttered. This is my "working" garage where I do all my wrenching as well as body work.

That was originally a possibility until the house was flooded. Now we have to get to Phx to see how much damage was done & try to get everything cleaned up. Hopefully we will have the 84 1C ready and can make it next year.

Red Fox sighted near Zion National Park Utah this afternoon……..Home tomorrow if all goes well!

Ron,
The house would have had time to dry out if you went to Sturgis. You would have been better of delaying that headache & having a good time in Sturgis!

Have you ever smelled a house that has been flooded?
It ain't a pretty thing.
We were blessed to have good friends who went over & ripped the carpet up and set up fans to dry it before it began to stink, mold, and rot the next day after the flood.
It wasn't nearly as bad as we feared and we actually could have diverted to SD had we known.

PS Now I am going to post this & go search for all of the great pics that you guys took while at Sturgis!
