Has anybody cleaned there intercooler core from the inside ? if it would improve performance.

if it is the stock IC then yes it is easy to disassemble and clean. will it improve performance.... that depends on if it is plugged with oil and crud.

The inside tubes can get coated with oils and vapors that will reduce airflow (minor issues) and thermal conductivity (more of an issue). If htere's any solid stuff in there, your turbocharger is eating itself and needs to be replaced.

On the stock one you cna easliy remove the 16 or so 8mm hex head bolts on the bottom that mount the heat shield and retain the core. Mark the core first so you re-fit in the correct location (and make sure your cleaning method doesn't take the markings off!).

I usually spray the interior core tubes with brake cleaner then shake it out and repeat. use the shop vac to get the remaining stuff out of the tubes - be careful to not bend the ends of the tubes. Then I flush the brake cleaner with isopropanol (the 91% stuff) and let it dry the same way.

Reassemble, drive, consume celebratory beer.
