My SVO Front Mount Intercooler project

As some of you guys know I have been working on a FMIC that takes a lot of insperation from Forced4s old kit. I had originally hoped to use enough off the shelf parts to kit this out. That unfortunately proved to not to be the case, especially with the amount of brackets that must be fabed up. I will however post a write up here with pics and part numbes should someone wish to make one themselves.

Parts List:

Ron davis 26" ford radiator with modified inlet outlets
Treadstone intercooler
Aluminum pipe from silicone intakes and cxracing
A spal 16" fan
Claps and couplers from silicone intakes
A few sheets of steel for making brakets
Brake line to make a new power steering cooler.
A 90* cast elbow from cxracing

And more..... I will update this a bit latter when i find my invoices.

I plan on taking some vids for you guys, plus I am installing temp senors so I can see just how much heat is being pulled out of it.

I would suggest installing the radiator hoses before you attempt any test runs :stick_poke:

We could put the nose on all the but the lower part of the bumper would touch the core fins right at the tanks so we trimmed about 1/4" off the bumper.



The big thing was moving the darn a/c condenser back. So we used the stock rubber supports but took them out of the metal mounts. Then use the holes in the condenser to mount the upper plates to....

Bingo!. Yea that's why I had a little bracket to hold the bottom of the condenser.. the brackets were the issue.

The charcoal canister went back into its factory spot.

We didn't have to but we trimmed about 1/2" off the bumper cover at the corners of the intercooler so the cover would not rub on the core fins.

Ok ladies and gentleman, after completing this project I realized that this is NOT something I am willing to kit out. There are way to many brackets to make and custom fitting to do. There for I will give up my parts list and any pointers I have.


*Project materials list and sources:

-- Order the 1S-26193F stock car radiator. Be sure to have the inlet and outlet diameters changed to 1 1/4 inlet, and 1 1/2 outlets. Also the radiator does NOT come with a drain. If you want one order it with one. All of this will cost extra.
--Also if you do the bypass like me order 6" of 1" aluminum bead rolled pipe.

- From Treadstoneperformance.com 888-789-4586
-- Oder the TR62 intercooler. But when you order it, order it with the small end tank that has the inlet at the bottom flipped over. This will cost extra....

That's why I only made 20 of them. Each kit required some sort of mod. Honestly spent 2-3 hrs on the phone with each install.

I hear ya Eric. If someone is going to try to make this kit even with the pointers on the radiator and core, I expect it will take someone a solid 2-3 weeks. I had a lot of wasted time waiting for stuff in shipping thats why it took me 2 1/2 months. But overall way worth it! I can be in 5th gear at 40mph turning 1500rpms and it will grunt out of it.

Dyno time is going to wait till after the 1st of the year. Got to put the new arms, koni's, AIT gauge, and AFR Gauges in first.

And oh ya a new job....


As for price tag on this, somewhere around $1,200 ish.
