Used cam - new followers?

I asked this question on TF and thought I would get some more thoughts and opinions here.

I have a used Crane 194621 (A-234) slider cam in great condition.
In the 'old days' when installing a used cam in a V-8 it was common practice to put in new lifters.
Do you think I should install new followers when I use this cam?
Rock Auto has Wolverines for $2.28 and Clevite/PC for $3.70, cheap insurance?
I would use break-in lube of course like it was new install.

The primary rule to follow for already-run-in slider cams:

- Use NEW followers if the original ones are not available
- if the original slider followers ARE available, they MUST be reinstalled to the same lobe.
- DO NOT idle the engine after starting. Keep it at least 2500 RPM for the first 20 minutes - DO NOT shut it down during that time.

Naturally do whatever it takes to minimize cranking to get it started: make sure fuel is ready, there are no leaks, ignition timing is correct for it to start, the throttle positioning tools & timing lights are already out, etc.

Optional, but highly recommended:
- Use light valve springs for the first two hours of running. Something in the 50-75 Lb closed range.

In ALL cases use gobs (aka copious quantities) of a moly/graphite based engine "assembly lube".

Thanks Mike, those are the exact same 'rules' I always followed on my FE cam changes when I was a young gear head.
In the back of my mind I figured it would be the same for our slider cams, just wanted to be sure and see if there were any other tips.

I have 8 spare cams I got with the 2A (drag car) and have been sorting them out to see what's what.
There is a mix of sliders and rollers that Mike Abbey (the PO) tried when he was racing the car in the NMCA EFI classes.
The tech guy at Comp Cams has been very helpful with supplying me with specs (via serial numbers) on the custom grinds.
