F-150 Rant

So a little over two years and 20 some thousand miles ago I bought a '01 F-150 and right away I had the dreaded misfire, so I replaced all 8 coils with Accel pieces. Now I have to replace #6 coil again. I thought Accel parts would be better but apparently I was wrong.
Does anyone else on here have any of the same issues?

Acell is better than MSD but still not as good as the stock parts has been my experience. Had a similar problem on a mark VIII.

Ive never used anything MSD. I always thought MSD was a little better.

I have had my 02 F150 since new. Just after the warranty expired I was getting this feeling that something was not quite right. I could never pin point it. For the most part no problems until I installed the k&N air filter and Lightning wheels at about 55K miles. It developed a miss which turned out to the the spark plug boots. Sometime about 120K miles a slight miss or stumble started to appear. Mostly while in traffic on and off the gas. It was once a month, then once a week. It was so slight, it was hard to diagnose. Finally it missed enough to get a fault code. The dealer was not much help. I replaced all the coil packs with Motorcraft and it got better. A week later it came back, bad coil pack. I put new plugs in it (50K miles early). It got better then acted up again. Replaced all 8 fuel injectors with Motorcraft. It got better for a while. Next was the TPS and 2 of the 4 O2 sensors. No change.

Now I was starting to think transmission but the transmission shop said all was good. 2 weeks later the trans locked up so off for a rebuild with a new torque converter. Got it back and all seemed ok for 2 weeks and the miss is back again. Just a single or double miss after coasting 6-10 seconds in OD at 45-55 mph. No codes and does not happen all the time. Last week it seemed much worse. I still have 2 O2 sensors to replace but after that I'm out of ideas. Oh, I did replace the fuel filter too. It is a very wide spread problem on the 5.4.

I put new plugs in it (50K miles early). Had to lol at this line.

When I first started working in the auto industry, spark plugs would not last 8K miles (leaded fuel deposits and severe electrode tip wear). Points and coils just didn't have the power to fire worn spark plugs.
