86 headlights

Hello. My 1986 SVO continues to be a daily driver. Any advice on what I can do/what I should do/what would be best for these headlights??? Thanks.

I polished mine with an over the counter Permatex kit. It helped with the color.

I read a thread somewhere about condensation build-up but I cannot recall the contents or find it!

What I had read to do is to remove the bulb so you just have the headlight shell, put a bead of silicone all around where the lens and bucket meet, and then where the bulb would normally go, cover it with a shop vac to create a vacuum inside the lens. In theory it will suck the silicone into any gaps in the seal fixing the issue. I didn't have any luck, but it worked for a lot of people.

My 86 had condensation just like you have. I removed the lights drilled a 1/8" hole in the bottom of each front corner, just behind the lens, (two holes per light). End of condensation issue, no more problem on my car.

thats how the dealer fixed mine in 92 when I replaced the originals (replacements had condensation problems since day of install)
