Lets talk bumpsteer kits

I could use a bumpsteer kit since my ride has been lowered. On those uneven ass old roads she likes to climb the hill and is twitchy. Any difference on the svo rack/tie rods end vs a regular fox rack/tie rods end? Anyone have tips, kit suggestions?

Racks and tie rods are same, the tie-rod ends are different (probably just because the taper in the Lincoln spindle arm is larger).

Measure the current toe change with suspension up/down movement to first determine if changing the steering arm height attachment points is warranted.

In 92(or was it 90?) the tierod was redesigned to decrease bumpsteer. I don't know how much you have dropped the front suspension but one of Maximum's bumpsteer kits might be in order as an alternative.

The 90-93 tierods have a slightly longer shaft. When used with the SVO suspension and springs that lower the front of the car up to 1", with about 3* of added caster, most of the bumpsteer will be eliminated. Alot of people will get aftermarket CC plates and put as much caster as they can get equally on both sides. It helps on a short autocross course. I like Maximums plates. They are robust, have a bearing as opposed to a bushing, and allow you to dial in more caster than you can get with the typical SVO onion head. I also feel they decrease the steering effort although I have never seen that claim made by any one else. Adding caster also induces added stress on the front suspension and can accelerate wear. Make sure everything is in good shape.

My guess is my svo is lowered about 1.5 inches or more. Tie rod angle is pretty severe. I will try and get a pic of it.

For that much drop, get a bump steer kit. Maximum Motorsports has a nice one.
